The Story and History of DirecTV

Of all the service providers DirecTV satellite is in front in terms of the number of subscribers with over thirteen million households tuning on a daily basis. With more than two one hundred twenty five available channels of digital programming available to its family of viewers, they also are among the leaders with respect total channel numbers. Based out of El Segundo in sunny Southern California, DirecTV has been providing satellite TV programming to the public since the summer of 1994.
Since its first beginnings, which have built their total number of satellites in geosynchronous orbit to seven, which is how they are able to offer high quality and reliability of reception they do. Since its infancy, satellite TV service providers have benefited from several technological advances, and that has made a major impact on the industry is digital compression technology.
Prior to the advent of digital compression technology, each based satellite transponder was only able to process a Canal resulting in only 25-31 channels being trans ponded satellite. This gave cable companies a clear advantage over satellite companies with regard to the number of channels that can be provided, but all that has changed in 1993.
It was later that year that the first class commercial DBS satellite was launched and it would change the The way that people watch television in the world. This new class of satellite had on board 16 radially polarized DBS Ku band transponders, with each unit of broadcasting at 120 watts per transponder. In lay terms, meaning that Parreira, more digital channels could then be sent out simultaneously.
This new leap in technology meant that satellite TV programming could now be brought to millions of homes across North America, with a cost that people could well Coping. Before then, satellite TV programming was something only a small segment of the total population was interested in how it was quite expensive and only has a limited number of channels featuring obscure topics.
In 1994 DirecTV introduced a new type of service that satellite TV A lesser used 18 inches dish that received a much wider choice in family-oriented programming to the definition phase that satellite TV programming is today. Then, in 1994, customers were required to purchase the satellite system they used to receive its programming, but even then they were selling a popular item as people began to switch to the new technology programming on TV by the thousands. What
One of things still fuelled the migration of cable, satellite TV service has been the launch of a second satellite for DirecTV. This new state of the art satellite DirecTV allowed to channel their total number to more than 150, which was a new record as service providers cable of the time were only offering up to 35 channels at most. Since the first days DirecTV have not looked back and continued to set new standards of broadcasting, offering high definition, multicultural programming and interactive and, while offering the option of DVD for your family of viewers.

Drop Down Menus - Be a Flash Menu Master!

Flash sites are generally not known for their user-friendliness. Almost every place has a non-standard user interface, which may mean that the problems while surfing your guests how they spend precious time getting used interface.
One your user interface that most people who have used a computer , for more than 20 minutes can handle is the drop-down menu. Quick and easy to make, if you know what you are doing, they are ideal for sites and projects dealing with enlargement in mind. Add another item, add another option in one of the menus.
This example, is actually based on a drop-down menu Flash file, see http://www.jake-man.co. uk /, a personal website of mine, I have over video-game consoles. As I have already collected more consoles, I needed to be able to include them in certain genres, on the console processor. The drop-down menu as a great opportunity to show them how I could just add more items, as and when, as part of this needed.
The clever drop-down menu is the invisible button " ", from any Flash designer best weapons! No matter what project I work, I end with an invisible button somewhere.
Basically an invisible button is only a flash button, with no content in the first 3 frames, just an object, form in the hit list. Can be extended to these sounds in the " " takeover of the stage, so that a user scrolls through the invisible button, a sound plays. There is a lot to be able to use it, so it is good to start with them as soon as possible.
What do I need before I start? You need Macromedia Flash 5, which is on the cover CD
How difficult is it? Easy - a knowledge of buttons and frames labels and film clips should all need.
How long will it take? 10-15 minutes
Walk: A walk through the 14 stage of the software with a gripper for each phase and 50-60 words.
Stage 1 First things first decide the size of your movie, frame rate and background color. You can change this later, but it may give you some headaches drastically change if you scene sizes. I chose a black background, a frame rate of 21 fps, and a size of 120 pixels wide and 400 pixels tall.
Stage 2 It is time for our main menu options. For my console website, I have grouped all of the processor. 8 bit, 16 bit, and so on. Add each menu item as separate parts of the text may also be that the font and color now.
Stage 3 Select the first option, and press F8 (or select Insert " " > " icon to convert ) and the name of the film something useful. For the 8-bit " " piece of text, I will be the name of the film " text-8bit ". Do the same with all the other separate menu item text.
Stage 4 Now select the " 8 bit " film clip and make a new movie clip by pressing the F8 again. Name this one " menu 8bit ". Edit the newly created " 8bit menu " by double clicking on the (initially confusing, I know!) In the library and the creation of the layers as in the picture.
Stage 5 We are now ready to work how our menu will behave. We need a framework for a menu inactive state, and a framework for the menu item is clicked. Add keyframes on Frame 5, and add a label called " closed " in frame 1, and a label named " Open " under 10.
Stage 6, we need a little about this actionscript 2 marked frames, nothing major, just a stop command to the film of rolling stock as well as its own. Add the command to each frame, as in our time picture.
Stage 7 invisible to ". Create a rectangle into an empty level under the heading " 8 bit " menu option. Select the rectangle, and hit F8 again, give the button a name, I suggest " button menu invisible ". Edit this button by double-clicking on its name in the library.
Stage 8 Here is the clever part simply grab the keyframe in the " up " state of the button and drag it on and ; quot; hits " framework. This should be done on a blank keyframe on the " up ", " over " and " down " States, but a rectangle in the hit list. The button is not visible feedback in this state, but the hot spot. Great for adding buttons, photos or artwork
Stage 9 but we want a menu. So we need to get something in the framework of the Rollover invisible button, then copy the rectangle from the Hit area and select Edit " " > " " paste in the city " to duplicate. Now you can get the color, transparency, add a sound effect, etc. Are the same in the " down " framework
Stage 10 So, we have expanded our menu option in the first frame, complete with of a button, needs a script so Click on the button once to open the window actionscript, and then double-click the Go To command in Basic Actions. Select " Type: Frame label " and enter " " open in the box, and turn off the option to " Go And Play " box.
Stage 11 In the framework " " open our menu, we need to see the list of options that appear when our 8-bit " " menu below. I have a few names of some consoles try and hold the first list item just where the 8-bit " ". Create a new layer at the bottom and add a background space, so that your menu blocked the other options, if clicked.
Stage 12 in the lower level of the menu items in the open " " frame, I go " to draw key " invisible menu in the library, one for each option and the size to match it. The script for each of these keys determines where the user is, if they Click in this case, I am simply in a different Web page loaded in a frame, you can use the script in the picture.
Stage 13 Finally, When the user " " roles from the menu, we want to return to the closed " ". The best way to ensure this is done, have 3 or 4 giant invisible hit areas to catch the user moves the mouse. Create a more invisible button, as in the Phase 8, just filling in the hit list, and add the script into the new button, as in the picture, then double twice.
Stage 14 Repeat this process for each main menu you need . I followed the whole process 4 times for my menu. Make sure that the re-use, the invisible buttons as often as possible, as this reduces the file size of the final film. For a simple menu does not have to be more than 200k! EXCEL: the best tool for Small anf Medium sized businesses

.style2 font-size: small; .style3 text-align: justify; font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; .style4 font-size: x-small;

EXCEL: THE BEST TOOL FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZED BUSINESSES!    Excel is used all over the world for a wide range of applications, from simple calculations, to complicated industrial spreadsheets. Of course, its most common use is in accounting or financial departments, but how many of us really know that Excel can help almost all departments in a modern company?   CASE 1: Automated website updating? One of our customers had the following problem: he had one of his employees assigned to update the company s website everyday with new values. The website offers information services to visitors and potential customers. So, each day, the employee had to gather information from other sites, process this information and update the website using an updating system their outsource web creator had done. This system used SQL Server database to update the site, but the creator did not supply an option for batch updating. This procedure required the allocation of almost half of everyday s time for this employee. We suggested a simple solution: 1.       Excel connects to external websites that contain the necessary information 2.       It processes the data and formats using specified guidelines 3.       It batch updates the database 4.       Excel automatically closes.   All that is needed by the employee is to open the application and wait around 3 minutes until it finishes processing and sending the data. Then, he performs a simple check on the website to ensure that everything is updated correctly. We installed this solution almost one year ago and since then it failed two times. In both cases, there were network problems and the application could not connect to external web sites.   You do not need Excel to calculate that this company reduced the required time for this procedure by more than 90%! And they assigned much more creative and efficient tasks to this employee, so everyone was happy! Some weeks ago, we received a call from our customer, explaining that they have fully automated the procedure: with the help of an electrician, they created a method to start the pc automatically. Once started, the pc is set to login, start our application and shut down with no human interference at all. Nice stuff!   CASE 2: Label printing for mass mailings. Many companies in our days use plenty of techniques to communicate with their customers. Many of them use the mail to send letters, marketing material or product catalogs. One company that sends almost 100.000 catalogs each month approached us asking for a simplified label-printing solution. At the time, they used a combination of Excel and Word and plenty of manual work to first remove duplicate addresses and then print the labels. We suggested a solution implemented in Excel 2007 version which only requires pasting the addresses in a specific worksheet of Excel. We used our enhanced duplicate removing algorithm to "clean" the data and then created an advanced VBA macro that prints the addresses using the customer s specified label dimensions. The user also has the ability to choose whether they want the printing done in one batch or in small packages in case they want better control of the printing procedure.   There is no end on this list of tasks inside a company that Excel can improve: Almost all departments of an organization can take advantage of this powerful tool. Some simple examples: Logistics and Inventory can print and manage barcodes or control stock using advanced Excel macros. Marketing can manage customer lists and apply simple CRM tasks. Information Department can produce or import ASCII files easily or improve EDI transactions. Personnel can program shifts or use Excel as a Payroll application. Management can have dynamic reporting or decision analysis tools    WHY CUSTOM EXCEL APPLICATIONS? WHY SHOULD I PREFER YOUR APPLICATIONS? Because you can have innovative applications with really affordable prices. Excel is usually pre-installed in almost any PC, and in case you will need to buy it, it costs less than $200.   By choosing to use a custom application, you pay only for things you really need. On the other hand, with stand-alone applications you pay for a bunch of extra options that do not fit your needs and you are not interested in.   Just like cost, the time needed to create a custom application in Excel is much less than any stand-alone one. In custom Excel applications, you do not need to design and implement an interface, this is supplied by Excel itself and users are familiar with it.   Our applications are free of licensing costs and restrictions. You can use our applications in any workstation with no extra cost. And we use a balanced philosophy: Simplicity and user-friendliness weights for us as much as the powerful VBA code we use to make the application work just like you require!   Please visit our site to learn more or download some of our demos.
